Lesson 3—The Power of Hygienic Prayer

Most people, when they pray, ask the Divine to send them something. Hygienic prayer is something different. It does not ask the Divine to deliver an outcome. It asks the Divine to show you what you need to understand, what you need to do, and who you need to become so that the desired reality can arise as the natural expression of who you are. This is the language of the Law of Creation—become the person who is already living what you say you want, and what you want will follow. In this lesson, you will build the embodied foundation of the practice by taking inventory of how the Sacred has been guiding you all along, living in that inventory until the recognition becomes felt rather than believed, and clarifying the spiritual presences with whom you pray. From that ground, you will learn the inner posture of hygienic prayer and how to compose your own prayers, each holding the petitions that are alive in you. The result is not a prayer of grasping, but a continuation of a conversation that has been happening for years.
